The Academy of Leaders (AOL) is a structured leadership development certification program for students. AOL is the premier leadership development program for FIU students. AOL teaches leadership competencies through educational seminars, experiential exercises, and practical application. Students participate in intensive training sessions that focus on building the following competencies: personal empowerment, diversity awareness/inclusion, organizational development, and civic responsibility. Training and discussion topics include:
-
Personality type & leadership style
-
Modeling the Way
-
Stages of Group Development
-
Conflict Management
-

Students put their knowledge to work in a service-learning project designed to yield tangible results for the University and/or local community. As part of a service team, students apply leadership concepts and skills to select, organize, and implement this group project.
